Day 2 — Into Serengeti

After the necessary entry procedures, enjoy wildlife viewing on the way to your camp. The afternoon available for driving depends on the journey, so this is mainly an arrival and positioning day.
Day 3 — Serengeti game drives
Start the morning with a drive through habitats the guide considers promising for the time of year. You might return to camp for lunch or carry a picnic when a longer circuit makes sense. The day is about observing what is actually happening in the bush, not racing toward every reported sighting.
Day 4 — Second full Serengeti day
Keep a second complete day for Serengeti. There is room to revisit an area where animals were active the day before or explore another sector if conditions make that worthwhile. Changing camps is an option only when the seasonal wildlife pattern justifies the transfer and the extra travel time.
Day 5 — Serengeti to the crater highlands
Leave Serengeti with game viewing along the route, then travel back toward the Ngorongoro highlands. This is not another full day in the park because the drive and formalities take time. Overnight near the crater or around Karatu so that the following morning can begin without a lengthy repositioning journey.
Day 6 — Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha
Depart early for Ngorongoro Crater and spend the permitted time on the crater floor with your guide. After a planned lunch stop and the drive out, return toward Arusha. An international flight on the same evening needs careful consideration; a final hotel night may be less stressful, especially with children.
What a migration guide can and cannot do
Experienced guides listen to current reports and read tracks and activity, but they cannot control the herd or predict the exact moment of a crossing. We recommend making the trip appealing for more than one wildlife event. A realistic guide will explain what has been seen recently without making it sound as though the animals have a timetable.
