Start in Moshi or move to Arusha first?
If you are recovering from a Kilimanjaro climb, one extra night in Moshi can make more sense than beginning the safari immediately after descent. You can also begin in Moshi and finish in Arusha or at Kilimanjaro Airport. Those are different transport arrangements, so ask for a quote showing the chosen end point.
Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Moshi to Tarangire
Meet the guide early and travel west via Arusha. Because this journey is longer than an Arusha departure, the first game drive starts later. Spend the remaining park hours watching elephants and the wooded river country.
Night 1: Tarangire-area lodge.
Day 2: Lake Manyara
Visit Lake Manyara for forest and lakeside wildlife, then continue toward Karatu. Your guide adjusts time inside the park to local conditions.
Night 2: Karatu lodge.
Day 3: Journey to Serengeti
Drive over the Ngorongoro highlands towards Serengeti, allowing time for gates and stops. Reaching camp before dark is more important than adding extra detours.
Night 3: Serengeti camp.
Day 4: First full Serengeti day
Spend the day on wildlife tracks within reach of your camp. Depart early for the morning activity if the group is rested, or agree a gentler start after the mountain climb.
Night 4: Serengeti camp.
Day 5: Second full Serengeti day
A second complete day allows another driving loop or extra time with a sighting. The guide will discuss the day’s plan based on wildlife, roads and the party’s interests.
Night 5: Serengeti camp.
Day 6: Return towards Ngorongoro
Drive east from Serengeti to Karatu or the crater highlands. Keep the afternoon free for the road journey rather than adding activities unlikely to fit.
Night 6: Karatu lodge.
Day 7: Ngorongoro Crater
Enter the conservation area early for the crater game drive, then return to a nearby lodge. Carry a warm layer for the rim and allow time for the ascent.
Night 7: Karatu lodge.
Day 8: Drive back to Moshi
Finish the safari with the road journey through Arusha to Moshi. This is not a final wildlife-viewing day. An early or midday departing international flight would make this return arrangement unsuitable.
End: Moshi, or a separately agreed airport drop-off.
After Kilimanjaro: what happens to your equipment?
Do not assume large climbing duffels can be left unattended at the hotel. Agree the storage location, collection time and any charges before the trek ends. A smaller soft bag is easier to handle in the safari vehicle.
The final drive is longer
Karatu to Moshi involves more driving than Karatu to Arusha. If your next stop is Zanzibar or an international flight, you may save time by ending the tour in Arusha or at an airport. Capable Africa Tours can show both versions before you choose.
What your quote should actually include
Ask for both Moshi transfers to be included explicitly, along with the four wildlife areas, seven nights, guiding, meals and relevant fees. Any additional rest night after Kilimanjaro or separate storage arrangement must be shown, not presumed.

Not automatically. If you want a full rest day, specify whether it is outside the eight safari days.
Can children join this route?
Yes, but the long road legs need breaks and suitable overnight accommodation.
