Early and late hours are usually valuable for photographing animals in softer light, subject to park rules. We discuss vehicle occupancy, window access, beanbags, dust protection and battery charging before choosing the camps. Four Serengeti nights provide time to return to an interesting location. A good photograph is never guaranteed, and the guide must keep a respectful distance rather than harass an animal to achieve a composition.
Ten-day itinerary: where you travel and sleep
This is a sample route to help you decide whether the trip suits your dates. Accommodation names, transport sectors and park activity times are final only after availability is checked and the itinerary is confirmed in writing.
Day 1 — Arrival and camera briefing
Meet your driver-guide in Arusha, check whether all camera bags fit safely in the vehicle and discuss your favourite subjects. If you use very large lenses, tell us now so seats and luggage arrangements can be adjusted.

Day 2 — Tarangire: baobabs and elephants
Drive to Tarangire for woodland and river scenery. Your guide can position the vehicle to avoid harsh backlighting where roads permit, and you will have time for elephants, birds and landscape frames instead of constant movement.

Day 3 — Second Tarangire photo session
Return to a productive stretch of park in a different light. This is a useful day for behaviour rather than a new destination. Agree in advance whether you want a picnic lunch, a midday rest or a long single outing.

Day 4 — Transfer through Ngorongoro to Serengeti
Allow a full travel day with conservation formalities and stops for scenery. Do not expect the same number of photo opportunities as a dedicated game-drive day. Arrive at the Serengeti camp chosen for the season.

Day 5 — Serengeti morning light
Set out early for open plains, kopjes or riverine habitat according to the camp area. Keep the vehicle reasonably uncluttered and give everyone space to turn a lens. Take time when predators are resting rather than crowding other vehicles.

Day 6 — Behaviour and longer observation
Spend time with a small number of promising sightings. You may capture birds in flight, grazing herds or interaction among resident cats; each requires patience. Your guide will adapt the route as conditions change.

Day 7 — Full Serengeti photography day
A fourth Serengeti night helps if weather was poor earlier or an area deserves another visit. Migration activity depends on the month and rainfall. An optional balloon flight offers a different view but has separate timing and cost.

Day 8 — Road travel to Ngorongoro highlands
Drive toward the crater region, allowing plenty of time for distance and entry formalities. Highland landscapes may provide attractive afternoon frames, but the final light depends on the arrival time and weather.

Day 9 — Ngorongoro Crater photography
Descend early when regulations and permits allow. Crater roads determine available angles, so a black rhino sighting or unobstructed portrait cannot be promised. Spend the remaining time on landscape and animal behaviour before returning to the lodge.

Day 10 — Return toward Arusha
Drive back with scheduled stops and onward transfer to your hotel or airport as booked. If you fly internationally the same day, we will factor in the road journey rather than promise an unrealistic connection.

Where an internal flight, boat or permit is involved, we check availability before it appears as a confirmed inclusion.
We will give you a written quotation naming each overnight location, room or campsite category, the vehicle and guiding arrangements, meal plan, park fees, transfer sectors, optional activities and the payment and cancellation terms. Wildlife sightings are natural events and are not promised. If your flight arrival makes the first day too short, we will adjust the activities rather than sell you a full game drive you cannot enjoy.

Questions to settle before choosing this trip
How many photographers should share the vehicle?
For large lenses and comfortable shooting angles, fewer passengers can be better than filling every seat. Ask Capable for a specific seating plan and whether each photographer can work from a separate side of the vehicle.
Can we photograph at sunrise and sunset?
The guide can plan early starts and late sessions within park rules and camp distances. Being close to a suitable area is often more valuable than staying in an expensive camp far from the morning route.
What if we use domestic flights?
Tell us the combined weight of camera equipment and luggage before tickets are issued. Aircraft may have strict size and weight limits, and a private charter is not automatically included in a photography safari.
What should I send to request the right price?
Share your preferred month or dates, how many adults and children are travelling, your arrival and departure points, and the accommodation level you prefer. We can then propose a practical version of this itinerary and explain what would change if the trip were shortened or extended.
