The main decision is where you spend your Serengeti nights. Herds move with rainfall and fresh grass, and a camp that works for one month may be inconvenient for another. For a limited ten-day holiday, protecting time in the likely migration area is better than adding parks simply to lengthen the destination list. You still have opportunities to see resident cats, giraffes, elephants and birds even when the large herds are far away.
Ten-day itinerary: where you travel and sleep
This is a sample route to help you decide whether the trip suits your dates. Accommodation names, transport sectors and park activity times are final only after availability is checked and the itinerary is confirmed in writing.
Day 1 — Arrival in Arusha
Meet your pre-arranged driver after the flight and settle into a hotel. A late arrival is a rest day, not an opportunity for a game drive. Capable confirms the airport pickup, hotel and next-morning departure time in advance.

Day 2 — Fly to Serengeti and start game viewing
Use a booked domestic flight to the appropriate Serengeti airstrip if the flight schedule and budget allow. Your guide meets you at the airstrip for the first game drive. The camp is chosen to suit the month and the actual arrival point.

Day 3 — Serengeti at a measured pace
Begin early when light is cooler and animals may be active, then decide whether to take a picnic or return to camp. Stay in one area long enough to see behaviour unfold rather than constantly driving between reported sightings.

Day 4 — Explore a second wildlife area
Your guide may explore kopjes, river habitat or open grassland depending on camp location. If the migrating herds are near, spend time watching rather than chasing a particular photograph. A Mara River crossing cannot be arranged or predicted.

Day 5 — Another full Serengeti day
Keep this day flexible in case of rain, changing herd positions or a particularly rewarding sighting. Four nights let you revisit a productive area without giving up every other activity. Balloon flights can be added only if operating and separately booked.

Day 6 — Drive to the Ngorongoro highlands
Leave Serengeti by road with a planned lunch stop and conservation-area formalities. The drive is substantial, so it should not be described as a full game-drive day. Arrive in the Karatu or Ngorongoro highland area for dinner and an early night.

Day 7 — Ngorongoro Crater then return to Arusha
Start early for your crater visit, subject to permits and weather. Wildlife can include buffalo, lions and occasionally black rhinos, but none is guaranteed. Afterwards, drive back toward Arusha and overnight rather than trying to catch a flight from a distant Serengeti airstrip.

Day 8 — Fly to Zanzibar
Take a confirmed Arusha or Kilimanjaro-to-Zanzibar connection. A beach transfer follows the flight; this is primarily a travel day. Your resort location and meal plan should be named in the quote, particularly if you want swimming rather than extensive tidal flats.

Day 9 — Zanzibar: choose your pace
Enjoy the beach or arrange a Stone Town, spice-farm or snorkelling excursion depending on your interests. Two nights on the island give one relatively full day, so choosing several long tours would replace most of your beach time.

Day 10 — Zanzibar departure
Your driver transfers you to Zanzibar airport with time for traffic and check-in. If your international flight departs from mainland Tanzania, ask us to quote the extra connection and an appropriate buffer before confirming tickets.

We will give you a written quotation naming each overnight location, room or campsite category, the vehicle and guiding arrangements, meal plan, park fees, transfer sectors, optional activities and the payment and cancellation terms. Wildlife sightings are natural events and are not promised. If your flight arrival makes the first day too short, we will adjust the activities rather than sell you a full game drive you cannot enjoy.

Questions to settle before choosing this trip
Which migration season should I choose?
Southern Serengeti and Ndutu are usually associated with the calving period early in the year; western and northern sectors can become relevant later. Weather can shift these patterns. We use your exact dates to recommend a region and name the camp before you pay.
Why not do the crater and fly straight from Serengeti?
The crater is in a different part of the circuit. Getting back to a Serengeti airstrip after a crater descent would involve a long return journey. The safer sample separates the crater and Zanzibar flight into different days. A different route can be designed if air services make it realistic.
Is Zanzibar too short?
Two nights provide one full island day after flight and transfer time. If beach rest is a priority, ask us for an eleven- or twelve-day version or reduce the Serengeti nights in writing, rather than hiding an extra night in the quotation.
What should I send to request the right price?
Share your preferred month or dates, how many adults and children are travelling, your arrival and departure points, and the accommodation level you prefer. We can then propose a practical version of this itinerary and explain what would change if the trip were shortened or extended.
