If your aircraft lands near the park late in the day, the first game drive will be shorter than a brochure might suggest. The second day's return flight may also limit the morning. Ask to see both flight times and the distance between the airstrip and lodge before committing to a two-day Serengeti option. For some schedules, another mainland park is a better use of the two days.

What two days can honestly deliver
A two-day safari gives one overnight stay and two possible wildlife-viewing periods, often shortened by the flight timings. It does not give the same flexibility as three or four days. If your dream is to spend several mornings following big cats in Serengeti, add a night. If you mainly want a strong first safari while staying on Zanzibar, a shorter protected-area visit may be the better use of your holiday.

Day-by-day itinerary
Treat Day 1 as a travel day with some game viewing, not a guaranteed full day inside the park. Day 2 may allow an early outing before your return flight. The precise timetable depends on airline schedules, weather and where the lodge is located.
Day 1 — Zanzibar to the wildlife area
Leave your Zanzibar hotel and fly to the confirmed airport or airstrip. Meet the local guide and begin wildlife viewing after transfers and park entry. Overnight in a lodge or tented camp appropriate for the route. Keep the morning flexible until flight times are known. A bush-airstrip landing and a road transfer to the chosen wildlife area are not always the same thing, so the guide's meeting point must be clearly stated.
Day 2 — Morning safari and return
Make use of the game-drive period available before the return flight. Travel to the airstrip with adequate time for boarding, then return to Zanzibar or another agreed destination. A breakfast game drive may be possible, but the latest departure time is set by the flight schedule, not by when the animals are most active. Leave a reasonable airstrip check-in margin.
Flight baggage and pickup arrangements
Small safari aircraft may have stricter weight allowances than international airlines. Soft-sided bags are often more practical, but exact permitted weight must be checked against your booked carrier. Your hotel-to-airport transfer, check-in deadline and airstrip pickup should appear in one plan.
If you return to Zanzibar on a separate ticket before an international flight, allow a sensible connection buffer. Weather or operational changes can affect domestic flights.
