Your six-day safari itinerary, explained
This is a suggested six-day route, not a guarantee of any animal sighting or an unchangeable flight schedule. Capable Africa Tours confirms overnight properties, the departure point, park entries and any air sectors when preparing your quotation. Here is how the time is actually used:
Day 1 — Join the group in Arusha and visit Tarangire
Meet the guide and other travelers at the confirmed departure point. The shared vehicle heads to Tarangire, where you look for elephants and woodland wildlife. Everyone follows the same timing for lunch and photo stops, so speak up about needs early. Overnight is in the Mto wa Mbu or Karatu area.

Travel and timing: Morning Arusha departure; airport-arrival night is not included by assumption.
Day 2 — Group drive to Serengeti
Travel through the highlands toward central Serengeti. The group must allow for several hours on the road plus gate formalities. There may be wildlife along the way, but this is chiefly a transfer day. Settle into the booked campsite and review the next day’s schedule with the guide.
Overnight: Central Serengeti shared camping.
Travel and timing: Long road stage; do not expect a full-day game drive.
Day 3 — Shared full-day Serengeti safari
Explore the Serengeti’s plains, river edges and rocky kopjes. The guide chooses a route that balances the interests of the whole group, and picnic lunch usually makes the most of the time. You may see big cats, plains game or birds, but the sightings are not promised.
Overnight: Central Serengeti campsite.
Travel and timing: Full group game-drive day.
Day 4 — Serengeti toward Karatu
An early game drive leads into the return route through Ngorongoro. We deliberately overnight in the Karatu area rather than adding a crater game drive after the long transfer. It gives the group a more reliable start the following day and keeps everyone safer from fatigue.
Overnight: Karatu / Ngorongoro area shared accommodation.
Travel and timing: Substantial road transfer with possible wildlife stops.
Day 5 — Ngorongoro Crater
Enter the crater early and spend the available park time among grassland, marsh and forest habitats. After climbing back out, return to an agreed Karatu or Mto wa Mbu base. This entire day is reserved for the crater; Lake Manyara is not compressed into the same afternoon.
Overnight: Karatu / Mto wa Mbu campsite or value stay.
Travel and timing: Crater outing with transfers to the booked overnight.
Day 6 — Lake Manyara and return to Arusha
Drive into Lake Manyara for a morning outing, then return to Arusha by late afternoon or evening depending on park time and traffic. If the group needs an early finish, the itinerary must be amended before departure. Guests with flights should arrange a suitable buffer.
Overnight: Trip ends in Arusha.
Travel and timing: Final park visit and return road transfer.
What to confirm before paying for a shared departure
Ask for the actual departure date, meeting point, maximum group size and whether your seat is confirmed. A shared safari may use tents and common facilities, but the rooming rule for solo travelers must not be left vague. We will also clarify luggage space and whether the safari ends in Arusha or includes another transfer.
The biggest difference from private safari is time management. You share the vehicle and must cooperate over rest breaks and photography stops. Our corrected route gives the crater its own day and Lake Manyara a separate final morning; it does not promise both full parks and a long return drive on the same afternoon.
What travelers should ask before booking
Are six-day shared departures guaranteed every day?
No. We confirm exact dates, available seats and vehicle arrangements before requesting payment. The quoted rate may depend on minimum numbers.
Will I share a tent or room?
We confirm whether accommodation is shared, twin, single or subject to a single supplement. You should know this before booking, especially if traveling alone.
Can I stop for extra photographs whenever I want?
The guide balances group preferences and park rules. If you need complete control over stops and routes, a private safari is a better fit.
What makes the quotation accurate

Questions before you travel
Can I use this route at any time of year?
The route is possible in different seasons, but wildlife distribution, road access and available accommodation vary. We confirm the order of parks and overnight areas against your month of travel.
Can I finish in Zanzibar or at an airport instead of Arusha?
Usually a different endpoint is possible, but it can involve a separate domestic flight or a longer transfer. Capable will price it transparently and check the real connection before confirmation.
